The AppleSqueezer GS Turbo accelerates your IIGS to 48 MHz, about 17 times the speed of the stock IIGS. It also contains 14MB of built-in RAM, so you no longer need to have any external RAM installed on your IIGS. Furthermore, it contains a 224MB RAM disk, and an SD card slot, which can be used to add four high-speed 32MB drives (see FAQ, and see the Blog post with the introduction of the AppleSqueezer GS Turbo). It's built using a Xilinx FPGA and DDR3 RAM.
The AppleSqueezer GS Turbo's most important features:
48 MHz 65C816 cycle-accurate CPU core
HDMI output: you can now install an HDMI cable directly into the AppleSqueezer. Supports all video modes: "super hires" mode (640x200 and 320x200) used by Apple IIGS software, as well as Apple II text modes (both 40 column and 80 column), and Apple II lores, double lores, and hires modes, 3200 colors images support, mixed mode, as well as audio output.
SD card functionality, which can be used to set up four high-speed 32MB disk images (with the help of the SD card builder tool), and boot directly over SD card. You won't need any other disk functionality anymore.
Full Ensoniq DOC audio output over HDMI, in stereo.
Golden core functionality: this means that you can use a jumper to always get back to the factory installed core, even in case of core updates gone wrong (which is unlikely by itself) or misapplied settings.
32MB RAM Disk support (even possible to raise until 224MB)
Streamlined design: it fits seamlessly beneath most(*) expansion cards in your IIGS
It's compatible with both ROM3 and ROM1 machines.
(*) While the AppleSqueezer will fit below most expansion cards, there may be some exceptions for cards that don't have a flat lower profile next to their connector. Some very big cards, such as the Transwarp GS, have a PCB that extend downwards next to their slot connector, making them sit closer to the IIGS motherboard. Compare the Transwarp GS with the Super Serial Card to see the difference in PCB design. I don't have any such cards myself so I'm not 100% sure how much of an issue it would be, but it's possible that they would have an issue fitting above the AppleSqueezer.
